The identification of products and services in scope that are offered to the customers is the first step into getting a clear understanding of the Business Context. The scope is agreed upon in the Focus And Direction Phase. Input for the scope can be the Business Requirements Catalogue and the selection of business requirements applicable to this project The agreed scope can be proven to be narrow or too wide. After identifying changes to the scope or the scope creep the procedures for handling the redefinition should be used. These procedures are part of the Unified Project Management Method . Key is the determination of the added value of the services and the products. This data is mostly provided by the client. While identifying the products and services, explore and recognize which aspects of the identified products and services must be maintained in the new situation. Document these aspects as business requirements if not yet documented in the existing Business Requirements Catalogue.
